This month had a lot of travel, both for work and for vacation. The coolest trip this month was heading back to AZ to go on a girl’s trip with my Mom to Canyon de Chelly to watch the Annular Solar Eclipse of 2023. Perfect sunny weather and no crowds to see the Ring of Fire.
- 01 – It is officially apple cider donut season. We discovered these a few years ago and now seek them out.
- 02 – Signing up for a Zine class. Bonus if you remember the line of this song from the 90s. 😉
- 03 – The crows are funny birds. I watched one from my window hang upside down like a bat eating berries in a tree.
- 04 – Three bright objects in the morning sky…Venus, the Moon, and Jupiter.
- 05 -Violent sneezing in the house.
- 06 – There is a restaurant called Hip Hop Chicken & Fish. You can either have a hip fish or a hop chicken.
- 07 – Making zines in zine class at the library. So much fun! The resulting zine is posted here.
- 08 – There is this thing called the 0 to 10 energy scale. Things you don’t like to do are near zero. Things you like to do are near 10. So here’s my list.
- 09 – We discovered half-chewed tomatoes in the yard. We don’t have a tomato plant. I think the fox is hiding tomatoes in the yard.
- 10 – Joined a new writing group at the library and wrote a quick 500 words about “The I-10” (that is how you say it), nuclear reactors, and sketchy tunnels.
- 11 – Formula One suitcases, or switching out my clothes between travel trips.
- 12 – Back to AZ for a visit! This trip was all about a road trip with Mom to see the eclipse and cool bookstores.
- 13 – Visiting the Petrified Forest. We walked the Giant Logs Trail and the Crystal Forest Trail.
- 14 – Watching the Annular Solar Eclipse from the Canyon de Chelly.
- 15 – Stopping by Hubble Trading Post on the way home.
- 16 – My parents don’t own cows, yet cows were in their pasture. They were visiting cows.
- 17 – Eegee’s is open at PHX airport! This is the first eegee I’ve had in 10 years!
- 18 – Flying from PHX to DCA, spending only 8 hours at home, then flying to LAX for work.
- 19 – 3 hours of talking. These are the things I think about.
- 20 – Spending 8 hours with the Evil Conference Room chair.
- 21 – Finally travelling home, and spending more than just a few hours there.
- 22 – I came home and the seasons changed. Fall trees are here!
- 23 – Being back home means getting back to the weights.
- 24 – Squirrel Friend already wearing her winter coat.
- 25 – The Crow Gang are now frequent visitors. They like their peanuts.
- 26 – The trees are confused by climate change and don’t know what to do with their leaves. Keep them? Throw them on the ground?
- 27 & 28 – Jazz concert time!
- 29 – Preparing to join NaNoWriMo. Why do I do this to myself in November?!
- 30 – I have started a series of torturing the word Monday on certain Mondays when I don’t know what else to draw. On this day he’s busting through like the Kool Aid Guy.
- 31 – Sunrise over the last day in October.
